CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
FRANK (CHARACTER): is torn between doing the right and wrong things.
He constantly finds himself in the middle of situations that pit him against one friend or another. This is exemplified in the pilot by his going along with Tom during the siege, yet knowing the event was brought on by a conflict by his sister, who has a good relationship with. Frank is more easily persuaded into things than his sister, Maria, he is seen as the dutiful son. He doesn’t want to disappoint.
Tom was rejected before Frank had the chance to show his work, so Frank never really had a chance to show his work. He feels cheated because of this.
By night he is the DJ at ‘Raunch’, one of the nastier local clubs in town. Finding time to sleep has become a bit of an issue, although Frank doesn’t think that taking a few pills to stay awake is such a problem. He’s not addicted and wishes everyone would just lay off.
Frank lives for the moment and does whatever feels good at the time. He just wishes it didn’t make him feel like shit the next day. Unfortunately, his dabble with drugs, and his friendship with Tom, finds Frank losing control. Suddenly he can’t remove himself from the situation and the repercussions are proving to be irreversible. He is also stuck under the shadow and expectations of his powerful father, never quite feeling his ambitions and himself are worthy enough. This can send him into depression and escapist behavior.
Underneath it all, Frank has a generous heart and a sensitive artistic soul. He constantly battles to keep his darker side from controlling his actions. He is very driven to succeed in the industry and being selected into the school is a huge dream.
When it seems he might not realize that dream, Frank does some deep soul searching and tries to find the courage to live his own life. A powerful connection with the school’s visual art director, Olivia Degas, opens up a new world of possibility to him.
