CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

JULIA BLACKWELL :

Free-spirited, artist, traveler. Julia genuinely loved Leon in their younger days, but slowly grew to despise what he became, resulting in her leaving him when Maria was 16 and Frank was 18. She had struggled throughout the whole marriage to reconcile Leon’s questionable morals and work ethics with her own idealistic and artistic sensibilities, to no avail. In the end, once the children were old enough, she had to leave to save herself. A prolific and vibrant visual artist, she now travels the world, gaining inspiration and exhibiting her work. Her deep love for her children however, draws her back often, and she becomes a guiding light for Maria and example of goodness for Frank.
