Famous Character – Louie

Louie – The school Handyman. Actually he is an also a fine artist who can make anything with his hands. He is in his 60s, has just started work at the school. But he also has a secret – he is an amazing singer / musician

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

LOUIE

He is in his 60s, has worked at the school for five years now. He was originally from New Orleans, but lost everything during the Hurricane Katrina flood. His family was sleeping downstairs the night of the flood and were drowned when the flood waters rushed in while Louie lay asleep upstairs. It was a devastating time for him. He decided he had to start a new and moved to Australia where he got a job at the school . He only has himself now, but has lived a life rich with experiences. He befriends Johnny early on and becomes his mentor to how the music business actually works in the real world.
While living in New Orleans, Louie played with a jazz band in the French Quarter on and off for over thirty years. During that time he also went on the road with a touring blues band and played on a few records recorded by big time jazz recording artists of the times.

You may write your own monologue -

* Firstly you will do your performance piece with a brief introduction (in character – first names only when introducing your characters in your audition. ) Perform a solo musical number, dance or any performance piece – no more than 2 minutes long. Musical instruments allowed.
