3 HOUR SEMINAR
OVERVIEW
• Emerging • Actors •
Subjects will include scene analysis, characterisation, subtext, presenter skills , voice, auditioning, camerawork and aspects of making a film and television drama programme. Participants will be encouraged to write, direct and act in their own short films during the classes.
2 DAY SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
I have recently developed my new two day seminar for actors and the main focus of this new workshop is scene structure and the audition process
You will be given two scenes at least one week before the workshop to learn and I will shoot these scenes as they would be filmed on a typical television show such as Home and Away.
3 HOUR SEMINAR
My 3 hour seminar is a low cost look at the film and television industry for actors, directors and film makers
It will include two industry guests as well as examples of scene structure and the audition process
Give yourself a cutting edge – hone your craft as an actor, gain an understanding of how film and television drama is made, and develop the skills you need to be part of a creative team. At this 2 day intensive workshop presented by award winning Director, Mark Piper(Home and Away, All Saints, Always Greener, Water Rats), 14 participants will shoot 14 scenes, with each participant being given the opportunity to act, direct, operate camera and rotate through the various roles of a film and television set crew.
In addition to Mark Piper’s tuition, guest industry professionals will present to you on aspects of acting, screenwriting and editing. Previous Guests include Sam Atwell ( Home & Away ), Andrea Moor (Practical Aesthetics), Paul Godard ( Home and Away ), Chris Haywood (Actor / Filmmaker ), Dean Frances ( Actor / Filmmaker / Editor )
Each participant will receive a free copy of Mark Pipers Actors, Directors and Filmmakers handbook, and a DVD copy of their performance pieces. Cost $650 for two days $50 Earlybird Discount

TWO DAY FILMMAKERS COURSE
The Screen Director
9 DAYS over 9 WEEKS
Tutors: Mark Piper
For those interested in directing for the screen, this course develops skills and confidence for leading a creative team, motivating a company of performers, and inspiring audiences.
The course covers the director’s roles and responsibilities, principles of effective storytelling and characterisation and working with other creative roles – designers, writers, choreographers, composers. Planning, communication and production skills are also developed. There will be particular focus on selection of material, developing a concept and ways of working with actors through the rehearsal process.
NOTES
I will issue a short script sequence to each participant before the course starts and during the course analyze and cast and shoot the sequence with each of the participants directing one scene each while the others rotate each crew role and on the last day edit some of what we have shot
I will need about 8 or so actors and will hold ” auditions” midway through the course. As this is a musical drama any actors from musical theatre would be welcome.
There would be preparation homework given each week
