Presenting with Confidence

Byron Bay Film and Television School

Presenting with Confidence 2-day Workshop

Adrian Williams-Brett – Brave Speaking
and
Paul Booth – Tailored Leadership Initiatives Pty Ltd

OUR APPROACH:
What I hear I forget, what I see I remember and what I do I understand Lao Tse
The above under pins our training approach. Experiential learning leads to behavioural change.
The Presenting with Confidence 2-day programme is designed and structured to achieve a balance between understanding theoretical content, practical skills, excercises and developing technique through individual coaching.
The two facilitators (Paul Booth and Adrian Williams-Brett) work as a team, with Paul in the role of lead-facilitator and Adrian as actor-facilitator. Paul is mainly responsible for the delivery of theory and for facilitation of the course as a whole, including feedback sessions whilst Adrian is responsible for delivering the practical exercises and demonstration of techniques. Both Paul and Adrian coach individuals on their presentations. It is in the one to one personal coaching sessions that real growth and behavioural change takes place.
The focus on individual performance means that the optimum group size for coaching is 10-12 participants. Therefore for feedback and coaching the group will be divided into two separate groups and the facilitators will switch groups on alternate sessions so the participants receive feedback and coaching from both facilitators. Each participant will be asked to prepare a 2-minute, work-related presentation prior to the commencement of the training. This will be videotaped on the first morning and will be developed throughout the 2 days, as new techniques and qualities are incorporated.
The exercises that are introduced through out the programme are designed to stretch the participants, embed skill and create fun developmental practices that individuals can continue to work with and develop beyond the end of the training, providing a toolbox of skills that will enhance the participants’ effectiveness as presenters and communicators as they continue through their careers.
The objective of the training is to:
Facilitate the participants in becoming skilled, confident, engaging, dynamic and credible as communicators in presentations and in public speaking.
