A New Foundation Screen Acting Course will commence on Sunday 13th January 2019
We begin this round with the Meisner/ Stanislavski Technique for 10 weeks
The Meisner Technique is a highly regarded training system for actors that combines truthful emotional responses with enhanced imagination techniques to produce performances that are emotionally authentic. Widely considered the technique that modernised acting the west, this approach has become especially popular due to its effectiveness for on-screen acting.

Every Sunday, for 10 weeks, in an intimate and supportive environment of other like-minded people, you will learn the essential elements of being an Actor from some of the industry’s most accomplished and inspiring teachers and experts.
The Foundation Course covers:
- The techniques and methods of the greatest and most influential acting teachers of all time:
- Stella Adler
- Sanford Meisner
- Taking the theory and putting it into practice, for stage and screen
- Filming monologues and partner scenes to camera
- Voice coaching
- Scripts and writing
- Marketing yourself as an Actor
By the end of the 10 weeks, you will:
- Understand and be able to use powerful acting techniques relied on by professional Actors
- Know the steps to take when presented with a script and choices you can make so that you can give an incredible performance
- Understand the importance of voice and know how to use it to improve performance
- Be able to showcase your Actor’s profile (bio and headshot photos) and have it published and ready to attract work
- Have footage that you may include in your Actor’s reel
- Have a greater understanding of the industry and what to do to be a professional Actor
- Have increased confidence and ability
- Be part of a supportive community of fellow Actors

Adrian Williams – Brett – Chekhov, Voice, Theatre
Adrian is a voice and theatre specialist (Chekhov and Steiner methods) and will be tutoring students on individual monologues. Using movement, body-centres and ‘creative sound-work’, he will introduce an approach to text that brings gesture, dynamic and power to vocal delivery and characterisation.
Adrian trained at the Harkness Studio for Speech and Drama in Sydney before moving to the UK where he has spent the last 24 years working as an actor, director, writer, composer, musical director and acting teacher. He worked with theatre companies including the Rose Theatre Company, Portal Productions, Fairgame, Dionysia Theatre, Circle-X Arts and co-founded the award winning TaurusVoice Theatre Company. He toured widely in Europe and America with classical and contemporary productions.
He co-founded the Stroud Performing Arts Foundation Courses in the UK and ran two large community choirs. He was an original member of the Sydney gospel choir, ‘Café at the Gate of Salvation’ and in the UK sang with the award-winning ‘Naked Voices’ for two years.
He now lives in Byron Bay, where he has established ‘Theatre of Life’, a company running theatre-training and performance projects. Adrian is also a voice trainer at The Actors Workshop and A.C.P.A.
Paul Booth - Stella Adler
Originally from Sydney Paul has been involved in theatre as an actor, director, acting and voice teacher for over 30 years. He has studied with Jone Winchester, Brian Syron, Stella Adler (NY) Yvgeny Lanskoy (NY) and Rowena Balos. Paul holds a Master of Creative Arts degree in Directing from the University of Wollongong. He has been a founding board member and director to a number of theatre companies and has operated his own Acting schools. He worked as head of Acting and Voice studies at David Atkins Dynamite School of Performing Arts in Sydney, the Head of Theatre studies at the Actors Workshop in Brisbane and the acting teacher at ACPA in Brisbane. He has directed and produced a number of theatre, cabaret and musical productions and worked as an assistant director and actor off Broadway in NY. Alongside his theatre work Paul owns and operates his corporate training company - Tailored Leadership Initiatives Pty Ltd.
Paul lives in the Byron Shire of NSW.
Philippa Williams - Improvisation
Philippa has a diploma from the London School of Speech and Drama and for fifteen years toured as an actress with Dionysia Theatre, The Rose Theatre Co, The Mask Studio, Portal Productions, CircleX Arts and Taurus Voice Theatre Company. She ran the Shroud Performing Arts Courses in Gloucestershire, England and also has taught, directed and worked as a therapist in a variety of other settings including schools, colleges, the Mental Health Sector, with teenagers with special needs, and within adult education. Philippa has a Diploma in Dance Movement and an Advanced Diploma in Psychophonetics Counseling. In Australia she has taught at Actors Workshop-Brisbane, BBFATS-Byron, Cape Byron and Shearwater Steiner schools, Warehouse Workshop as well as running other courses and community theatre productions. Philippa is currently a Director and Facilitator at Public Act Theatre Company based at the Byron Theatre.
Mark Piper - Director
Mark Piper is a highly accomplished and award-winning Director, and teaches and mentors Actors and Directors at workshops around Australia and at his school, Byron Bay Film & Television School. Beginning his career as an Actor in New Zealand, Mark went on to running Director Roger Donaldson’s (“The World’s Fastest Indian”) company Aardvark films, & then worked on films such as “The Blue Lagoon” with Brooke Shields, “Tim” & “Attack Force Z” with Mel Gibson, and “My Brilliant Career” with Sam Neil and Judy Davis, and directing most of Australia’s favourite TV drama series, including Home and Away, Blue Heelers, Neighbours, All Saints, Water Rats and Always Greener. He has worked with internationally acclaimed actors Chris Hemsworth, Eric Bana, Guy Pearce, Isabel Lucas, Kylie Minogue, Julian McMahon, Simon Baker, Isla Fisher, to name a few.
Mark has also been a tutor at NIDA, Actors Centre, Bond University and other institutions. He judged the 2012 Logies & the 2011 to 2018 International Emmy Awards, was Board member for ASDACS & Screenworks & on the Selection Committee for Flickerfest International Film Festival.
